3D History
In the old days…
Stereoscopic 3D viewers were all the rage in the 1900s when the Victorians discovered this amazing art form. They recorded thousands of events in 3D including the Great War.
As time went by, and film, television and video were invented, the art of stereoscopic imagery was left behind, only kept alive by the famous Viewmaster with its discs of 7 slide images, still available today.
Like the Victorian ones, 3D images give the user a real sense of being ‘in the picture’. At Wow-View we have developed a brand new system based on the larger photo format of the Victorian images.
How we do it now…
Using a modern camera, and one that is based on the original stereoscopic camera, we can take high quality 3D, action shots. This modern camera has up-to-date lenses and camera parts, which enable it to take fast moving shots as well as using high quality film to produce a detailed image.
Viewing the images…
During the product design stage we decided that it was essential to produce a versatile system to view the 3D images, and one that was lightweight and could hold multiple cards.
Introducing…Wow-View!
The name developed simply from the word “Wow”, which is often the first expression used when people experience the 3D sensation for the first time!
